Research Topic: Administrative Institutions and Cultural Conditions in Ottoman Algeria

General Objectives

The team members work toward achieving the following objectives in stages:

1. Conduct an inventory of sources that address the topics of administration and culture in Algeria during the Ottoman period.
2. Organize and classify these sources by type: archival documents, manuscripts, publications, etc., as well as by their original languages. Indicate which sources have been translated, assess the quality of these translations, and evaluate the reliability of the translated versions.
3. Present a set of issues related to administration and culture in Algeria during the Ottoman period, especially those that have not been previously addressed or were only explored superficially or partially.
4. Begin addressing these topics through training workshops, seminars, and national and international conferences.
5. Finally, compile all collected and analyzed source material, then edit and publish it in the form of articles and collective books under the supervision of the lab director.
