General Objectives

The objectives of the research team can be confined to the following areas:

1. Establishing an information bank for the Ottoman heritage in Algeria to contribute to the reform of curricula for studying the history of Algeria during the Ottoman period.
2. Reviving a new spirit in the study of Ottoman heritage history in Algeria by preparing a book on the subject using modern technologies.
3. Creating a website to showcase the team’s works, including publications, research, and conference participation. This website will serve as a window for accessing Ottoman heritage in Algeria on both national and international levels.
4. Creating a national map of Ottoman-era archaeological and architectural landmarks using new technological techniques.
5. Producing a documentary film to introduce the Algerian public to the missing chapters of Algeria’s Ottoman history.

Description of the Research Topic for the Team

The research team aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Highlight the Ottoman heritage in Algeria from the 16th to the 19th century.
• Investigate the areas of Ottoman influence in Algeria, such as anthropology, toponymy, ceramics, and architecture.
• Study and explore Ottoman heritage in Algeria using new technologies.
• Identify aspects of the Ottoman heritage in Algeria that have not been previously studied to enrich the Ottoman-Algerian legacy.

Scientific Foundations

• Establish a database for Ottoman heritage in Algeria to help reform Algerian history studies during the Ottoman period.
